The 60th Anniversary of the Battle of Anzio

Erected in 1979 this statue commemorates the Legend of Angelita di Anzio a young casualty of the Battle of Anzio.

Anzio today - a seaside resort and fishing port with a population of 35,000.

In proud memory of the officers, warrant-officers, non commissioned officers and men of the 2nd Bn. The Sherwood Foresters who gave their lives in the fighting in the Anzio beach head, 22nd January to 3rd June 1944. This memorial was erected by their comrades in the battalion.
